John Wimberly, Ph.D.
Dr. Wimberly moved to Bozeman with his wife in 1999 and began a private practice in psychotherapy. He is a co-founder of Gallatin Psychotherapy, Inc., and is known for his ability to get at the core of people’s issues and then to help them in their resolution. His clients appreciate his warmth, ability to connect with his patients, and humor. He is adept at understanding and utilizing various forms of psychotherapy, which he adapts and tailors to the particular needs of each client. He is extensively trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies; couple therapies; state of the art treatments for depression and anxiety; mindfulness and acceptance based treatments; EMDR; and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
John obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Montana in 1997 then completed post-graduate work at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology.
Outside his practice John coaches hockey and baseball; fly fishes; hikes; writes; restores aquatic habitat; plays poker; and telemark skis. He can often be found in his backyard playing with his son.
